Two-Dimensional portfolio
College work
Throughout my schooling at the University of Wisconsin - Stout I took several traditional art classes. The output of which is organized into the below galleries.
Drawing I: The first art class required for all art majors. This class starts with the principles of design, and eventually adds color to the mix (Fall 2000).
Drawing II: The second class in the Stout drawing line of classes. This class works on a breadth of medias (Spring 2001).
Life Drawing: This drawing class encourages students to specialize in a specific medium, and spend the semester drawing the human form. My class worked with an Asian and an African model. NOTE: this section contains nude and semi-nude depictions of the human body. Please, no visitors under age 18 without parental consent (Spring 2002).
Fundamentals of Design: This class spends more of an emphasis on the Principles of Design, limited media and color, and dealing with more abstract subject matters; focusing on the gestalt of the layout/design (Fall 2000).
Pres. Tech.: Short for Presentation Techniques. This class teaches the basics of 3D rendering using markers and two point perspective techniques (Fall 2001).
Advanced Photography: Scans of black and white film shot for Advanced Photography (Spring 2003).
Jem and Slithar
Included in the "Presentation Techniques" gallery above is a selection of pieces that were created as a standalone piece for that class. The final project was different for each student depending on their major. I am Multimedia Design, and so, for a final project, I had to choose a movie that involved computer created characters and had to go through the design steps of creating a pair of characters for a sequel to that movie. I chose the Star Wars series as my base, and set about creatinga new character for that setting.
The character I cam up with is Jem. She's a bounty hunter from the sandy planet of Tatooine. Her preferred mode of transportation is a bipedial reptile known as a slithar. Jem is a moderately successful bounty hunter, but she has had the unprecedented luck of managing to kill a padawan Jedi and steal his lightsaber. By that stroke of luck, she her noteriety went from nothing to everything in an instant. She is not only wanted by law enforcement groups, but also by other bounty hunters to possess the lightsaber she stole. Hence in her portrait to the right, I depicted her as a bronzed warrior, with leather armor and clothing that was suited to desert living, and the lightsabe hilt as cool and bright. It's the oly metallic thing she carries, and by its appearance, it's obvious it's not hers. It doesn't match her lifestyle or appearance. She doesn't know how to use it, but wears it as a badge of prestige. The rest of her armor is slightly ornamental, but more functional.

Pre-college work
Though, my interest in art didn't start in College, and if you're interested in some of the pieces I created prior to my University schooling (i.e. smile at the amateur art talent of my younger days), you may like perusing the gallery here.
